Little Bourke Street
This proposed office building is nestled between the unique alleyways and lanes in the heart of Melbourne’s Central Business District.
The corner site fronts onto Niagara Lane, a historic, narrow laneway in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. The design recognizes and evolves the Niagara Lane fine-grained pedestrian experience as a treasure trove of architectural details, high quality materials and ornate brick detailing.
The street interface is splayed and sculpted to encourage pedestrian movement and greater curtilage to the laneway whilst building entry points are further recessed from the street to promote areas for public gathering.
At the urban scale, A more recessive, contemporary upper tower form signals a transition in building scale from Niagara Lane to Little Bourke Street.
