Norwich Plaza

Situated at the lowest topographical point on the eastern end of Ballarat’s Sturt Street is Norwich Plaza, this project replaces an existing outdated building with a mixed used, retail, civic and accommodation project.

Our team focused a design response around two of Ballarat’s unique characteristics, its prestigious architectural heritage and unique topography.

The robust street wall and formal ground plane arrangement draws influence from the proportional systems of Ballarat’s key civic buildings (City Hall, Train Station etc.), whilst the lighter tower elements above draw inspiration from industrial structures which were most prevalent throughout this region during the Victorian era
