Acre Eatery & Glasshouse Cafe
The Acre Eatery is based on the ‘farm to the table’ restaurant model, started in Camperdown in Sydney by Luke Heard of Tully Heard.
Our brief was to have a holistic design approach and consider all aspects of sustainability. The notion of a farm-style restaurant and cafe on the roof of a shopping centre in the middle of suburbia is a sweeping image few would be able to get their heads around. However, the commission also correlated with a symposium held in Sydney by the Living Future Institute of Australia providing the duo with greater insight into sustainable design.
We didn’t want to create just a simple rustic design with sustainable materials, we were very conscious of responding with a holistic approach to all sustainable design aspects.
